I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Iowa and a Registered Art Therapist. I have been providing counseling services for over twenty years to adults and children in different settings such as hospitals, schools, and in the community. I was born and raised in Serbia, part of the former Yugoslavia, and graduated from the University of Belgrade with a Medical Doctor Degree. In my mid-twenties I immigrated to the United States, where I integrated my passion for visual arts and medicine into art therapy. I received a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from the University of Illinois in Chicago.
I provide counseling services for adults who are diagnosed with depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, cancer and adjustment disorders. My method is eclectic and holistic, as I apply art therapy, EMDR, mind body connection, and spirituality as part of an individualized treatment plan. (As a side note, I am also fluent in Serbian and work with refugees and immigrants from the former Yugoslavia.)
My mission is to serve each individual through the process of desired transformation. I firmly believe that each of us can change, look beyond past limitations, and learn how to apply new ways of living. I provide an understanding and compassionate environment in which your courage and commitment can unfold your true self. You and I will work together to create a plan to achieve the desired change in your own life and overcome current challenges.
I have worked with many men, women and children and the results aren’t always as expected. However there is growth in some part of your life and a shift of the current state. Often with growth, you break through old patterns and release yourself to spontaneity and the joy that the journey in life offers to all of us.
